Switzerland - 10 Days and you'll want more
Adventure 17-06-2024
I know, I Know, this is not the companion you expected for this post:
But, we did not use the sport mode. Ever 🙊
What we did was to take some data to compare the costs of travelling by car compared with bikepacking:
BikePacking versus Travelling by Car - The costs
How gas price increase are affecting your traveling costs. The comparison with a bycicle. Discover what I found out based on this data driven experiment.
And enjoyed fantastic landscapes
I started the trip couple of days alone.
With very interesting views.
Visiting for the first time the Rhine river:
The “recipes people follow” on this side of the shore seems to work better.
And from there the Rhine comes.
The city from where she shot is taken is Rheinfelden
And old people seems to be made out of other material…
The owner of this motorbike was also resting and he spoke to me in German (or Swiss?)
Despite he mentioned that he was not good at English - We could communicate perfectly, we discussed what we were up to, where we were heading…
…and… I had to ask for a video on how that BMW engine sounds during startup.
It seems that this person had made proper decisions during his youth and now lives his life without damaging 3rd parties.
Was he using some leverage? I did not ask.
But so far trying to serve others and using a company as leverage is the best way I know so far to live such life and again, not expecting than others need to serve me because I have some kind of halo (probably you cant see it, right?)
How Opening your Company can Raise your Game
My experience while becoming entrepreneur (in both, Estonia and Poland)
Something interesting in Switzerland compared to other EU countries, is that social pension contribution is mandatory, yet thats the smaller of 3 pillars (as they call it).
The system still puts preassure on future generations, but not as much as in other countries.
Instead it relies on individual contributions to the 2nd and 3rd pillar.
I guess such system makes you be interested to learn some financial concepts.
I know, too many things in this live to have a look at.
But probably this is one of those that if you dont get right, it puts you one step closer to be a passenger in life.
The landscapes in the area looked like this:
These were quite different to the ones I found in Estonia.
Exploring Zurich and Rhine Falls
I was about to miss this spot.
Needed to check the dance life in Zurich last night.
And then I had a good surprise in the airbnb I stayed.
Not only the host was so kind, but there were 2 other guests, from Taiwan.
I was planning to go to Zurich during the day and have a walk, as my friends were landing that afternoon.
But instead, they mention that their plan was to see Rhine Falls:
They were planning to get there by train but…
…they gave me a better plan.
Lets go all together with my car, I said.
I was very happy with the companion and…
…it does not count at taking someone for hitchhike, but I saved them some time getting there in public transportation.
Once my friends arrived, we tested the regular (not dancing) Zurich nightlife.
And even if it rained, it looked amazing:
Exploring Mountains in Switzerland
We were so lucky with the weather to be able to explore the Interlaken area.
We made several hikes in the area.
Its interesting to see the rural Switzerland.
Anyways, wherever you go, its very clean.
We went up to a glaciar, but the way was still closed (in June):
Closed?
well, the bridge was still there…
Guess who was so intelligent to bring this shoes for the hikes.
I had many epic saves and in the future, will not underestimate when this friends talk to me about hikes!
The amount of snow at both sides of the road was as high as a person.
My fav mountains spots in Switzerland:
- Lauterbrunnen
The Swiss French Area
I have mixed feelings about this region.
It is definitely not the same as the german speaking side - and I am not only talking about the language (and landscapes).
Personally, I cant wait to go back to Switzerland.
And even if the French area looks also great during night, my heart stays with the mountains (swiss side)
But, if you are into food, being in the french speaking area has its advantages:
I cant believe one of my friends does not like cheese:
My Conclusions about Switzerland
Switzerland seems to be a places where AB testing for ideas gets done. Constantly.
What do I mean?
It is a federal state, and each canton can try different policies.
For example tax policies.
The good thing is that they can take a view and see what it is working and what does not.
And the way forward is clear: you have an example of something that works, something that it does not, why not copying a good model?
Would we be happier if there was no other example at all? We are doing just fine, this is all we know and the best it can be?
Then, just iterate forward with other variations.
Those kind of small borders for ideas might be part of their success as a society.
So far, I have not seen cleaner cities and more educated people than in this country (specially the German swiss side).
Also, they have not been involved in any recent war.
Not breaking things sounds like a good way for everyone to progress.

Questions without an Answer after Switzerland
- Does growing in a mountain area conditions us to be more prompt to planning?
Think about it, if you dont do it and then the hard winter arrives…you are basically done.
How much does that affect the fact, that in general, Swiss society is very much saving, compared to others like Spain?
- What is it first, the egg or the chicken?
I mean, is Swiss society rich by default?
or are they doing something different?
